SOLD!

The Ram Skull has been SOLD!  I only had one to sell and it's been sold, but I'm going to leave the photos and description posted for a while, just becasue this was such an interesting item.

Ram Skull  -  $185.00

A wonderful decoration for your frontier lodge or man cave!  This skull is from a black adult Merino ram raised using 19th century farming traditions on my small farm in Stockton, Illinois.  Notice that the horns are black, which is unusual, with some awesome white stripes running the length of the right horn.

The lower mandibles are included, but are not attached.  How you attach them, if you choose to do so, will depend on whether you are displaying it in a modern or historic setting.

This ram skull is perfect as:

  • A display artifact for the historic campsite of a voyager, mountain man, rendezvous or Native American reenactor or living history interpreter
  • A great decoration to "man-up" your Man Cave
  • A serious conversation piece for the serious Los Angeles Rams football fan
  • A study aid for a biology student, veterinary student, teacher, or home-school parent

Or,

  • Disassemble and use the horns to create two very authentic powder horns.
  • Disassemble and use the horns to make horn spoons, combs, drinking horns, etc.

The skull has been naturally cleaned, then dipped in a bleach and water solution.  This is a one-of-a-kind, real skull (not resin)!  This is the only skull I have.  I don't currently have any rams with horns worthy of preserving, so it may be many years before I have another ram skull available for sale again.

The lower mandibles are included, but not attached.

.

Hey, is this legal?

I'll admit I wondered the same thing myself, so I checked with the Illinois Department of Natural Resoures (because I live in Illinois and sell at shows in Illinois) and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (because I occassionally sell in Wisconsin).  Both regulate the sale of wild animal parts in their state, and both said that because the skull is from a domestic sheep that was raised on my farm it is legal for me to sell this skull.  I would be happy to pass along the e-mail responses I got from both DNRs to anyone who is interested.
